Thursday Thinkers Week 6

Hey there! Another week has flown by and its almost time for the weekend! Do you have any exciting plans?! Hopefully whatever it is you do, it makes you happy. This week I'd like to introduce you to someone whom I met through a very talented makeup artist friend of mine when I was asked to style the hair for the company styled shoot. Ashley is such a gem to work with and really shines with that go-getter personality! Who doesn't love that?!

Tell Us About Yourself!

I'm Ashley La Fleur, and I'm the owner of La Belle Fleur Events. We specialize in effortlessly romantic weddings. We love working with our clients to create a custom design that reflects who they are as a couple.

Who has been your biggest inspiration for pursuing event planning and why?

Martha Stewart! I grew up reading Martha Stewart magazine, and looking through all the bridal magazines. It's still my favorite place for bridal inspiration as the weddings are always elegant, but filled with unique details. It was definitely a dream come true to have one of our weddings featured in Martha Stewart.

Do you think mentoring is helpful? Do you have mentors? If so, what was the best advice they gave you and how did you implement it?

I definitely believe in mentors. I think having guidance throughout your business is crucial. I look at mentors as people who can help you with certain aspects of your business as well as people who you can go to when you want to celebrate your wins or need advice during hardships. Some of the best advice I've received is from a woman I met last night: Business is like swimming; you need to stay in your own lane. If you start to spend too much time looking at what everyone else is doing, you're not focusing enough on your path. When the times get tough, you need to buckle down and focus.

If you couldn't pursue event planning, what would you pursue?

If I wasn't in event planning, I think I would probably be in politics. Random, I know! I would just love to help make some positive change in Chicago and the United States which is why I recently started a non-profit called Changing Summers. While it hasn't launched yet, it will assist Chicago Youth in the Arts during the summers.

Well everyone I hope you have enjoyed Ashley's story and if you would like to follow her journey please check her out on social at the links below! Be sure to check back next Thursday to learn about someone new! xo
